The Kiribati National Fisheries Policy 2013–2025 sets the strategic direction for the sustainable development, management, and conservation of the country’s vital fisheries resources. It focuses on five key objectives: supporting economic growth, ensuring food security, conserving marine ecosystems, strengthening governance, and building climate resilience. The policy outlines practical actions to enhance artisanal and commercial fishing, expand aquaculture, improve compliance, and attract responsible investment. It also promotes institutional strengthening, regional cooperation, and community-based fisheries management, with a strong emphasis on equitable and inclusive participation across all islands.
